What is an actual PermaCulture Party?

A PermaCulture Party is a family-friendly, community gathering where we join together to cultivate permanent culture.

We combine the activation of creating regenerative food systems (e.g. planting food forests or native wildflower gardens) with the celebration of communities gathering together to dance, play, learn, and grow as one family.

Fill your yard with a bounty of healthy foods, natural healing herbs, personal care plants, cleaning agents, and natural resources!

🐝 Our Hive 🐝

PermaCulture Party is a Movement.

After a spiritual awakening, my life changed forever. This awakening led me to permaculture, community, and dance. PermaCulture Party is the fruit of this journey.

  • We all have the power to literally create Life.

  • Every ecosystem can be regenerated.

  • We are stronger together.

  • Permaculture is the Playbook. Party is the Action and Celebration.

  • PermaCulture Party is the Lifestyle.

"I discovered there are regenerative formulas to cultivate our needs - food, water, shelter, energy, waste, community, economics - in a cyclical, abundant, fashion.

Permaculture teaches these formulas. PermaCulture Party turns them into a lifestyle."

Testimonials

Karri from Minnesota

"I absolutely loved working with Alex for our PermaCulture Party! His expertise in explaining the principles of permaculture and helping to plan and organize the event was invaluable. He made the process so enjoyable and inspiring. If you’re considering adding a permaculture food forest to your yard, I highly recommend Alex. His skill in design and planning will guide you every step of the way. It’s also such a fun way to bring the community together and showcase what’s possible!

Mary from Tiny Timbers Agrihood Community, in Wisconsin

"After spring rains flooded our nearly 2-acre newly formed intentional community property, we realized gardening would be impossible without significant remedial action and reached out to Alex for help. Within weeks, he coordinated with experts as needed and produced an amazing long-term plan to help remediate our water flow issues, which were creating rivers through our community garden area and elsewhere across the site. He also designed a beautiful community garden based on companion planting, intermingling annuals and perennials in a creative way to accommodate the diverse gardening goals of our sixteen community households.

Alex's project management and communication skills were exceptional. He led regular meetings with the grounds managers and owners, using visual schematics that involved real-time adjustments reflecting ongoing input and site information. These visuals were posted on-site for resident feedback. Alex also organized and led a successful community planting day, which brought residents and non-residents together to implement and plant some components of the design. This all occurred within a very compressed time frame that ensured we were ready for summer planting.

While the remainder of the design will take a few years to install and fully implement, the project has resulted in a manageable gardening area and a scenic meandering rock creek-bed that travels to a newly created pond next to a relaxing pergola.

Bottom line is that Alex's responsive project management and communication skills were among the best I've seen, and I would highly recommend him!

Jordan & Dashiell from Minnesota

“After a couple years of extremes, our front lawn was dying. We knew that the monoculture we were trying to keep alive wasn’t an efficient use of our time and water resources, so we were ready to convert to a more resilient design. Alex at PermaCulture Party helped us build a plan to transform our front yard into a food forest and native pollinator garden. We garden frequently and weren’t afraid of getting our hands dirty, but wanted an extra set of eyes and some deeper knowledge of native varieties to ensure we were maximizing our space. To kick off our project, Alex also helped us host a permaculture party and plant the first section of our “yarden” with family, music, fun and great food. It was a hit! Thanks, Alex."

John & Theresa from Michigan

“We moved to a new house last summer. For both environmental and financial reasons, our dream is to slowly transform our property into a sustainable food forest. Alex has been amazing to work with to make this dream a reality. He is extremely knowledgeable yet also willing to go the extra mile to learn and find answers to our various design questions. He provided us with a beautiful design and many resources to create our abundant food forest.”

Carley & Todd from Michigan

"Alex has an awesome system set up to make a PermaCulture Party exciting and stress free. Alex laid out a clear timeline and steps for getting our party scheduled. We then were shown which steps would be our own responsibility, which ones Alex would coordinate, and what tasks would be completed by our permaculture contractor, Graham. The event went off without a hitch and we were able to create a wonderful memory with friends and family as we started our exciting Food Forest journey. We absolutely recommend Alex to help plan the details for your next Permaculture Party!”

Erica from Minnesota

"I recently completed my food forest project with Food Forest Abundance Minnesota. Alex and the team made multiple visits and constantly communicated to understand my goals. Alex answered my questions promptly, offering expertise and innovative ideas that greatly enhanced the project. The detailed design document he prepared, covering plant arrangement and specific environmental and historical data of my specific area, was especially impressive.

Alex's professional and approachable demeanor made all interactions pleasant and effective. His commitment, creativity, and knowledge have significantly benefited my food forest, leading to a positive experience. I highly recommend Alex to anyone considering a food forest project."

Alex's comment: I completed this design as a contract designer for Food Forest Abundance Minnesota.

Food Forests and Permanent Culture

Permaculture is a design science and lifestyle, rooted in Indigenous wisdom, and focused on living in harmony with the natural world to generate natural capital. Permaculture outlines how to naturally generate and design systems for our needs - food, water, shelter, energy, waste, and community. Permaculture is a playbook to design human culture that permanently lasts.

Food forests are diverse ecosystems designed to mimic the biological & botanical advantages found in nature, while producing an abundance of food, medicine, personal care aids, cleaning agents, and more. Just like a native forest in northern Minnesota – food forests are designed to be cyclical, low-maintenance, self-regulating ecosystems. With a heavy focus on perennials, Mama Earth and her natural cycles 💧☀️💨🦠🍂 become the daily cultivators and carry the workload. Food forests get stronger each year, are adaptable to any climate, scale to any size, and produce plentiful annual yield of fruits, vegetables, nuts, herbs, mushrooms, and natural resources 🍑🍅🥜🌿🍄🪵. As designed by Nature, animals are a symbiotic addition to food forests 🐔🐑🐝🦋.

Converting our landscapes to foodscapes is a simple solution to many global problems. More people eating our yards and parks means more food and resources for local communities, less pressure to convert pristine ecosystems to farmland, reduced emissions and food waste, and a collective regeneration for all Life that shares our Home 🌎.
